For this first post, I want to establish some content you readers can except and what I see for the future of this blog. Disclaimer: I am not a strong writer. However, I love sharing my creative ideas and thoughts with others. After making a move across the country, away from many friends and family, I've found it difficult to find a creative outlet where I can be in community with other people (You can only do so much through FaceBook and Instagram). This blog will be a place of all things creative, and also serve as way for my (oh-so-far-away-and-much-missed) friends and family to keep up with my daily adventures (and Star Wars references). Below are some topics I plan on blogging about:
DIY Projects:
This will probably be the most written about topic. I have been a DIY-er ever since kindergarten. Luckily, for the both of us, my skills have improved since then. I've come so far since cut and paste. In this category, you are going to find posts about refinishing furniture, sewing, embroidery, custom art, homemade accessories and more!
A subset of this category will be weddings. I plan on sharing all the DIY wedding things I did from our wedding, and sharing some tips & tricks for planning along the way.Graphic Design:
Lately, I have had the privilege of making invitations for close friends and family. It has been a blast collaborating with them to make something beautiful. My clients have such creative visions, and they deserve to be showcased. However, this won't just be a portfolio of invitations. It will allow readers to keep up with the trends in event planning. Including themes, styles, and proper etiquette. I also hope to throw in a corporate design every now and then. How to revamp your resume design or personalize your business card.
Home:
All things for the home. Anything from buying your first couch, to organization/decor for a small space.
Beauty:
For those that know me, know I love styling hair. Although this won't be a main part of this blog, when appropriate I will share fun hair styles and my favorite products. I also just re-subscribed to BirchBox. So I would love to do a monthly post, and share my un-boxing with you.
Etsy:
I plan on launching my own Etsy shop soon (I already have a handful of products made!). When first looking into to starting my own shop, I found it a bit overwhelming. I'd like to record the process of opening my own shop (the struggles and helpful tips), in hopes that it will help someone else.
Life:
This will serve as my miscellaneous category. You'll be able to find posts about travel, adventures in the Pacific Northwest, tales of being a twenty-something, married life, city living, cooking, and health/fitness. Okay, probably not that last one...haha.
Guest Posts:
I have been blessed with some talented friends and family who are constantly doing creative things. From talented cooks, to welcoming hosts, to amazing parents. I cannot wait to collaborate with them, and share how they fulfill their creative outlet.
Well there you have it folks! Looks like a blog to me. I can't wait to start this adventure with you.
