Tom and I went to California this past November to celebrate Thanksgiving with my Grandparents and extended family that live in San Jose. When visiting my grandparents, it is a tradition to look through old photos from our visits over the years and from my mom's childhood.
And, boy, did I find a treasure. I found photographs my mom took from her personal camera when she visited the Pacific Northwest on a family trip in the early 1970s. Her images included sights of Mount Rainier, the Seattle Center arches, and Victoria. The coolest photos from the bunch? Pictures from the top of the Space Needle. Many of Seattle's largest buildings were built in the late 70s, so her pictures are very different from what it looks like today. Being a veteran of the Space Needle trip, I have many pictures from the top. And, of course, I have one from a very similar angle. Below are the two photos from my mom's camera, my picture from 2014, and two gifs of city transforming from 1970s-2014.
