Remember when I'm supposed to be blogging?

I talked about in my goals post how I wanted to be doing a blog post 3 times a month. I thought this was a challenging goal, yet achievable with some effort. Little did I know the next several months would be my most successful (read: busy) for my Etsy Shop and I would have zero minutes to spare. Or at least that's how it felt.

It wasn't until the end of July when I began to realize how fast time was going by. I knew if I didn't make a plan to accomplish my goals, they would never happen. Tom has his own personal projects he works on in his spare time, so we decided to team up. On July 31st we sat down with our notebooks and wrote down what we would like to accomplish (individually) in the month of August. We planned to meet up weekly and discuss (over margs and nachos) how it was going and where we were at. This played out really well, and is something we are excited about continuing every month.

It is kind of hard to set up deadlines because I have no idea how many orders I will get on my shop each week and how much spare time that will leave me. So I took my top 5 goals and assigned 1 to each week, plus 1 that kind of "floated."

Week 1:
My goal for this week was to print out my color scripture designs and list them on my shop as physical items. This is an easy task, but so many time-consuming steps. Print, photograph, edit, export, upload, write item listing, and publish X 40. I've already sold a few, yay! You can purchase them here.

Week 2:
My goal for this week was to create some Northwest themed items. I still have a dream to participate in a local marketplace, and I wanted to create some designs that would appeal to the local audience. I created two designs and they will be available in my shop (physically and digitally) later this month.

Week 3:
This week I wanted to update some of my item photos and create new listings for my state pillow covers. This is another task that is simple, yet time so consuming. It is so worth it though. My daily views have pretty much doubled since I created the new listings.

Week 4:
It was my intention to make a new product this week that featured a US map style design that I have wanted to make since... June? I have been looking forward to see it come together. However, I got very sick, and was unable to complete this goal. I found out later in the week that I had E. Coli (most likely from eating out at a restaurant). I'm feeling so much better now, but it definitely took me about of commission for a while.

Floating Goal:
My other goal for the month was to make my dress to wear to PAX West. For those of you who don't know, PAX is a video and tabletop game exhibition. Makers from all over the world display what they are working on. Most of the games haven't been released and will come out this holiday season or next spring. A decent amount of people will cosplay as video game characters. I think cosplay is awesome, but I've never been confident enough to do it. Maybe someday in the future. In lieu of cosplaying, I decided to make a dress that featured game characters. Last year I made a pokemon dress and it was a big hit. This year my dress featured all the nintendo characters. I set aside two Saturday's in the month to work on it which included reading a book about clothing construction. I was so pleased with how it turned out.

Day 1: Nintendo Dress

Day 2: I wore my Pokemon dress from last year

Day 3: I "disneybounded" (or PortalBounded) as a Chell from Portal.

Monthly Wrap-up:
Overall, August was a great month. My shop did exceptionally well. I got over 39 orders for the first time and ended up reaching a total of 50 orders for the month. It was incredible. August was also my 5th consecutive month were I reach over 30 orders. My views and favorites are the highest they have ever been. This makes me a little nervous as we enter the holiday season, but mostly excites me.

I started writing out my goals for this month last night.
For my shop:
Make/List USA map design
Make/List Northwest Items
Sketch 25 new Scripture Designs
Make some felt products
Create some holiday product designs

For personal interests:
Upcycle or sew fall/winter related clothes
