It is not too late to make this refreshing summer drink! Super easy and extra tasty!
Cucumber: the perfect flavor for summer. Cool and crisp. I have always enjoyed cucumbers, but ever since I had a Cucumber Tom Collins at Serious Pi I've been hooked. If I see cucumber on the ingredient list you bet your bottom dollar I have my ID ready. Serious Pi listed they had used their house-made infused cucumber gin. How hard could it be to make your own? Seriously, the easiest recipe I've ever followed. The best part about this recipe is that it only take 1-2 weeks. Other infused alcohols can take up to 40-60 days.
So follow this recipe. Make your self a cucumber gin and tonic. Sit back. Relax. And enjoy what summer you have left.
Materials:
1 bottle of gin
1 empty bottle (with a tight seal)
2 tsps Rose water
2 large cucumbers
1. Start by dividing up the gin into equal parts between the two bottles. (I just happen to have purchased this gin before, and I kept the bottle because it looked cool. So I used it as my 'empty bottle')
2. Slice the cucumbers. I then cut my slices into 3's to fit them into the bottle. You can even cube yours if necessary. Whatever you do, do not peel them.
3. Put one cucumber (sliced) into each bottle of gin.
4. Put one teaspoon of Rose Water into each bottle of gin.
5. Let the bottle sit for 7-14 days. Store in refrigerator. Shake bottles vigorously daily.
6. When you decide it is time. Take your bottles out of the fridge and remove the cucumbers.
I did this by putting a strainer of a bowl with a spout. I used a metal skewer to help persuade the cucumbers out of the bottle.
7. Pour the gin back into one of the bottles.
8. Enjoy.
